“To Fly” continues the mosaic language of the Illusion of the Whole series: a sky assembled from numerous fragments. A disparate cloud, birds scattered across the canvas like dots in an unfinished sentence, and a warm light enveloping the whole space. This fragmentation becomes a mirror of our lives — fleeting, inconsistent, full of omissions.
The painting is a reflection on the difficulty of piecing together a coherent picture of the world from the shards of experience, losses and fleeting joys. It speaks of transience: here a bird on the horizon, and then it is gone; here clarity, and then fog again. Yet it is precisely in this movement, in this uncertainty itself, that possibility lies — the possibility of believing, hoping and flying, no matter what.
