“Spice of Life” was born from a moment of joy — the painting was made after the eighth birthday of the artist’s daughter, and that burst of happiness was captured in colour, form and light. The ripe pomegranates are painted juicily and in thick impasto: a bright, spicy, fresh world in which each seed, like a child’s smile, holds a whole mood.
The symbolic fruit here becomes a metaphor for life itself: rich, many-layered, full of flavour, unexpected shades and drops of sunlight. This is a work about the moment when the heart is overflowing with happiness and longs to share it with the whole world — simple in subject and generous in feeling.
