“Ember Horizon” is a painting about a moment one wishes to hold onto. As the last light of day settles over the sea, the horizon begins to glow with warm amber tones, and the familiar world grows softer, quieter, seeming to pause for an instant. The water turns into a living mirror reflecting the fiery sky, while anchored sailboats become part of this calm evening symphony. There is no restless motion here — only the slow breath of the sea, the golden shimmer of the horizon and a sense of inner harmony.
The work was commissioned for a coastal hotel in Teriberka, a remote village on the shore of the harsh Barents Sea in the Russian Arctic. It is not a literal depiction of the place — rather, it conveys that feeling of long-awaited warmth, light and shelter that becomes especially meaningful on a northern coast, where, after a long day, the sea grows calm and the sunset is a reminder that even amid severe nature there is always room for silence, rest and contemplation.
