About

Ludmila Gorbunova is a contemporary Artist from Russia. Since her birth she is based in the most charismatic Russian city – St-Petersburg. She entered into the world of painting in her teenage time upon graduating the Youth School of Fine Arts. There Ludmila has chance to gain a solid classic artistic background – learn fundamentals of composition and color theory, acquire key drawing skills, try various artistic mediums and techniques and lay fundaments to elaborate her original artistic outlook towards the surrounding world.
Nevertheless later she pursued a successful career in Corporate Finance and coped to reach top level Manager positions in local headquarters of some international companies. At that she has never stopped painting, thou without many chances to practice it at a regular basis.
Some years ago at the peak of her business career following the birth of her daughter in 2013 her inner Artist woke up and came in full force and Ludmila realized that her true life passion remained with the painting. She started to refresh her painting skills and got down to numerous lessons, experimenting with various techniques, mediums, styles and subjects. Meantime she fell in love with oil painting, mastering at workshops of renown local masters – Igor Sakharov, Dmitry Kustanovich, Aziz Sulaimanov, Anastasia Maslakova.

Her style is impressionism and in some cases, verges on expressionism to abstract and intuitive art. Notwithstanding that Ludmila is sure-footed with a number of fine art techniques – watercolor, graphics, marker sketching, pastel, her favorite one becomes oil painting as no others it could offer the most wide potential for self-expression .

Ludmila’s artworks are driven by the desire to display atmosphere and emotions of a moment and a place. Through artistic images she conveys feelings that are often inexpressible by plain words.

Her creativity is inspired by personal experiences, feelings from within, memories and impressions from the ever-changing environment around us – in charming cityscapes of native city, in magical beauty of natural landscapes, in delicate flavor of flowers in bloom, in restless run of waves, in intricate tricks of light, in unlimited flights of imagination. Each piece of art she creates has its own stance and presence, with its own individuality and recognition.

Ludmila is notable with wide interests and along with painting she goes in for feature photography and art psychology.

The member of Eurasian Art Union since 2021.

Artist Statement

“With some time I came to realize that I want to create not just plain paintings for your interior and delight but enrich them with some emotions and senses. For me the painting is an activity where I transmit my affection to the world, draw inspiration by myself and interfere with my spectators. That’s’ why my artistic creation motto is described as “LOVE ART. LIVE ART. LIFE ART”.

I wish not only to convey the impulse which guides me while painting, but also dream that my emotional boost evokes some response in my spectators souls and hearts. I will be utterly happy if my canvases motivate my audience to look at the world from a new prospective and learn something new about themselves”.
